How to change system fonts on Android manually
This method is suitable for enthusiasts who are not afraid to experiment with their device. A prerequisite for performing this operation is to have ROOT rights in order to be able to change system files on Android. Actually change the font manually not as difficult as it might seem at first glance. The main thing is to understand what changes you are making and strictly follow the instructions.The Android system uses fonts from the Roboto family, which are located along the path /system/fonts:

So, for the procedure of changing the font you will need any file manager, able to work with system files and a pre-prepared font in the TrueType Font format (with the .ttf extension) that you want to install. For the example, we used a file manager on a smartphone running Android 4.4.2 and the lobster.ttf font.
- Go to folder /system/fonts, find the system font Roboto-Regular.ttf and first make a copy or rename it, for example to Roboto-Regular.ttf.old.
- Copy the pre-prepared replacement font to /system/fonts and rename it to Roboto-Regular.ttf.
- Set the file Roboto-Regular.ttf permissions 644 (rw-r--r--) according to the screenshot and save the changes.
- Reboot your device. If everything is done correctly, the font should change to the one you wanted to set as the system one. It is possible that in some places of the system interface changes will not occur.
