7th Rezhitsa Red Banner Guards Division. Varlamov Leonid

I can hardly be called a blogger in the sense that was needed for this press tour. My readers are colleagues from my previous job - 4, my best friend - 1, and my mother - the only one in the whole world. Sometimes Ovseychuk also comes in, and I simply amuse him along the way.
In general, the number of my regular readers is minimal, and I don’t write on military-patriotic topics. So I was denied accreditation as a blogger, but not as a journalist. In the end, not with a pen, but with a camera.

It all starts with the dining room. Always. After 5 hours of travel there were no other desires. Well, there were, of course, but still I wanted to go to the dining room too.

While people were standing in line...

I'm at talykova I asked myself a hero.

And here comes the food. Not tasty, as the assistant whose tray I photographed said.

Some are located in the ZATO "Ozerny". Consequently, we left our cars immediately behind the checkpoint and moved into a military PAZ, in which we were transported around the territory of the town and the unit itself.

I will support the anger of other bloggers: they promised to show us “Topol”. And they didn’t show it. Although I, as a person not very experienced in the military field, was still interested.

Do you see the wire? There's 3000 volts there.

There were, it seems, 17 bloggers. From Moscow we were accompanied by a colonel from the press service of the Strategic Missile Forces and a major from the service for the protection of state secrets. Several more people joined in the unit itself.

What they showed there was a missile division deployed in the field. But exclusively in garages and under camouflage.

Since at the very beginning of the press tour we signed for knowledge and compliance with the laws on state secrets and the media, it was possible to film the proposed objects only from certain angles. This is a communications machine hiding.

But this is a combat duty support vehicle. In the garage.

All bloggers have photos of inside the car. The camera was not allowed there. Therefore, I didn’t climb either.

And here's how we overcame the high-voltage line - a secret passage underground under vigilant guard.

But this is the way out. There is no security because the door only opens from THAT side.

The second destination is the barracks.

In my opinion, of course, it’s ascetic, but knowledgeable people said: they’ve seen it more severely.

When I was making plans for a sports corner in the story, the editor noticed: if we show this, the PR will definitely not work.

We were allowed to communicate with the privates. Well, more precisely to me. It’s unlikely that anyone recorded them with a camera.

The private who was given to me for an interview said this: the Internet and television are what they watch now. And the guys in civilian life will see how it is here in the Strategic Missile Forces, and they will also join the army.

But it still seems to me that their boots have an uncomfortable last.\

The most interesting part of the press tour is the interactive one. This is when the exhibits can be touched.

Before we were allowed to touch this - the training launch complex...

They explained to us in some detail how difficult and at the same time easy it is to operate this machine. Dimensions - about 20 meters long. How much it weighs, I’m even afraid to guess. They say 40 tons. It probably never accelerates to hundreds. Yes, this is not necessary if you are carrying an RT-2PM intercontinental ballistic missile. The most real, senior warrant officer, Sergei Oleinik, explained.

Not a bad little wheel, considering that in this photo I am 180 cm tall.

And now for the interactive part of the press tour. We were all allowed to run this colossus ourselves. I understand, it's hard to believe. I am a rather muslin young lady with a driver's license, issued at most 10 times. But behind me was senior warrant officer Sergei Oleinik... and a cameraman, in front of whose camera it was impossible to disgrace myself.

At the time of signing the Memorandum of Understanding to the START-1 Treaty, the USSR Strategic Missile Forces included 26 missile divisions, united into 6 missile armies. The missile systems were located on the territory of four republics—Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Belarus. By the end of 1996, the concentration of the group on Russian territory was completed, and it was reduced to 19 divisions, united into 4 armies.

Russia

As of April 1, 1997, the Strategic Missile Forces group on Russian territory consisted of 762 deployed launchers (of this number, 16 were deactivated, but not yet eliminated). Organizationally, the Strategic Missile Forces grouping is united into 4 missile armies consisting of 19 divisions.

1. Heavy ICBM missile division (R-36MUTTH/R-36M2) consisting of 52 launchers, stationed in the area of the village. Dombarovsky, Orenburg region. (out of 64 control points that existed previously, 6 were liquidated and another 6 were deactivated).

2. Heavy ICBM missile division consisting of 7 regiments (46 launchers), stationed in the area of Kartaly, Chelyabinsk region.

3. B Missile division of heavy ICBMs consisting of 5 regiments (30 launchers), stationed in the area of Aleysk, Altai Territory.

4. A heavy ICBM missile division consisting of 52 launchers, stationed in the area of the city of Uzhur, Krasnoyarsk Territory. (12 control centers out of 64 previously available were liquidated.)

5. Guards missile division consisting of 6 regiments UR-YUONUTTH (60 launchers), stationed in the area of Kozelsk, Kaluga region.

6. Taman missile division, stationed in Tatishchevo, Saratov region,73 consisting of 11 UR-YUONUTTH regiments (110 launchers) and 1 stationary RT-23UTTKh regiment (10 launchers). (9 of the 110 UR-YUONUTTH launchers were deactivated.)

7. Ternopil-Berlin missile division consisting of 4 railway-based RT-23UTTH regiments (12 launchers), stationed in the area of Bsrshet, Perm region.74 (Previously, the division was armed with UR-YU0K/UR-YU0U complexes, which time are completely eliminated.)

9. Guards missile division consisting of 4 railway-based RT-23UTTH regiments (12 launchers), stationed in the Kostroma area.

10. Missile division consisting of 4 regiments of the PGRK "Topol" (36 launchers), stationed in the area of Teykovo, Ivanovo region. 76 (This division was previously equipped with UR-Yu0K/UR-Yu0U complexes, which have now been completely eliminated. )

11. Harbin missile division, stationed in the area of the station. Wood-burning Chita region. 7 consisting of 2 regiments of the Topol PGRK (18 launchers). The UR-Yu0K/UR-Yu0U DBKs previously in service were dismantled and as of the beginning of 1997, 40 of the 50 silos were eliminated.

12. Kiev-Zhitomir missile division, stationed in the area of Yoshkar-Ola and consisting of 4 regiments of the Topol PGRK (36 launchers). Previously, this division was armed with RT-2P missiles (6 regiments with 60 launchers), which have now been completely eliminated.

13. Guards Rezhitskaya Missile Division, stationed in the area of the village of Vypolzovo, Tver Region. 78 After the liquidation of the UR-YOUUTTH MR complexes that were in its arsenal, the division at the beginning of 1997 had two regiments of the Topol PGRK (18 launchers) .

14. Melitopol missile division consisting of 5 regiments of the Topol PGRK (45 launchers), stationed in the area of Yurya, Kirov region.

15. Missile division consisting of 5 regiments of the PGRK "Topol" (45 launchers), stationed in the area of Nizhny Tagil, Sverdlovsk region.79 16.5 Guards Glukhovskaya missile division consisting of 5 regiments of the PGRK "Topol" (45 launchers), stationed in area of Novosibirsk.

17. Missile division consisting of 5 regiments of the Topol PGRK (45 launchers), stationed in the Kansk area.

18. Missile division consisting of 4 regiments of the Topol PGRK (36 launchers), stationed in the Irkutsk region.

19. Missile division consisting of 4 regiments of the Topol PGRK (36 launchers), stationed in the Barnaul area (until 1981, it was stationed in Ordzhonikidze).

Kazakhstan

Two divisions of heavy ICBMs were stationed on the territory of Kazakhstan. These divisions, stationed in the city of Derzhavinsk80, Turgai region. and the city of Zhangiztobe, Semipalatinsk region. consisted of 8 regiments with 52 launchers of R-36MUTTH/R-36M2 missiles each.

By the end of September 1996, the liquidation of the Strategic Missile Forces group in Kazakhstan was practically completed. All nuclear warheads and missiles from Kazakhstan were removed to storage and disposal sites, and the last silo launcher was eliminated in the first half of September 1996.

Ukraine

The 43rd Missile Army was stationed in Ukraine with its headquarters in Vinnitsa. The 43rd Army included the 46th (Nizhnedneprovskaya) and 19th missile divisions with headquarters in the city of Pervomaisk, Nikolaev region81 and the city of Khmelnitsky, respectively.

The 19th Missile Division had 9 UR-100NUTTH regiments (90 launchers). The 46th Missile Division consisted of 4 UR-100NUTTKh regiments (40 launchers) and 5 stationary RT-23UTTH regiments (46 launchers).

As of the end of 1995, all missiles were removed from the launchers and the liquidation of 40 UR-100NUGGH launchers in Pervomaisk began.

Belarus

The 33rd and 49th missile divisions stationed on the territory of Belarus were apparently part of the 50th missile army with headquarters in Smolensk.

Divisions stationed in the area of Lida, Grodno region. and the city of Mozyr, Gomel region. each had 3 regiments of the Topol PGRK (27 launchers in each division). By the end of 1996, all 54 complexes of these divisions were withdrawn to Russia. Some of the missiles were redeployed to Vypolzovo and Yoshkar-Ola.

In addition, during 1991, in the area of Postavy (at the converted former base of the Pioneer PGRK), 3 more regiments of the Topol PGRK (27 launchers) were briefly deployed. These complexes were soon brought to Russia. (Kherson Missile Division in Postavy disbanded in 1993)

Thus, in connection with the liquidation of Strategic Missile Forces groups in Belarus, Kazakhstan and Ukraine, 7 Strategic Missile Forces divisions stationed outside Russian territory ceased to exist or were reorganized. In addition, in connection with the decommissioning of the UR-100K and UR-100U missile systems, two more missile divisions in Russia were disbanded:

1. Missile division stationed in the area of the village. Yasnaya, Chita region.

2. Missile division stationed in the area of Svobodny, Amur Region (disbanded in 1994).

The reduction of the Strategic Missile Forces group into 9 divisions led to the need to disband 2 of the 6 missile armies that existed at the time of the collapse of the USSR. The 43rd Army (Vinnitsa) and the 50th Army (Smolensk) were disbanded. The headquarters of the remaining 4 missile armies are located in Vladimir83, Orenburg, Omsk and Chita.

Along with the reduction of organizational structures in the Strategic Missile Forces, the process of forming new units is also taking place. During 1996, four more new missile regiments were put on combat duty. Some of these regiments were apparently transferred to Russian territory from Belarus.

Further reductions in strategic weapons provided for by the START-1 and START-2 Treaties will most likely not lead to a radical change in the current organizational structure of the Strategic Missile Forces. A complete reduction of heavy ICBMs in the event of the implementation of the START II Treaty will lead to the disbandment of the four existing divisions of these missiles. These cuts can be made without changing the existing army structure. The number of divisions may also remain unchanged since a group of 800 Topol-type complexes corresponds to approximately 20 divisions of 4-5 regiments (36-45 launchers) each.

The reorganization of the Strategic Missile Forces may be associated with the general reform of the Russian Armed Forces. Thus, one of the proposals for military reform provides for the reunification of the Strategic Missile Forces and the Military Space Forces, which were separated in 1982. Other proposals provide for the unification of the Strategic Missile Forces, the Military Space Forces and the country's Air Defense Forces into a single branch of the Armed Forces.

Among the nominal flags of the Strategic Missile Forces troops, presented on the pages of the military trade store Voenpro, of course, there was a place for a banner with the symbols of the 7th Missile Division of the Strategic Missile Forces. The flag is traditionally created on the basis of the combined arms flag of the Strategic Missile Forces with the personal symbols of the 7th Guards Missile Division.

Characteristics

  • 7th Missile Division

The birthday of the 7th Missile Division is considered to be July 14, 1961 - by this date, by a special directive of the Ministry of Defense, the 7th ORB was reorganized into a division, since 1970, subordinate to the now disbanded 50th Missile Army of the Strategic Missile Forces (today part of the Vladimir Republic of Armenia). At this time, it consisted of 11 regiments, nine of which were disbanded as part of the implementation of the terms of the START treaty system.

Today, only the Topol mobile missile systems are in service - we are talking about a fairly technically equipped formation of the Strategic Missile Forces, which is not armed with the Voevoda missile systems. The 7th Missile Division is stationed on the territory of the ZATO "Ozerny" military unit. 12425 - formation headquarters. In the villages of Bologoye-4 and Vypolzovo, which form the Ozerny Closed Administrative Unit, mobile ground-based missile systems are on combat duty and are in constant combat readiness - formations of the 7th Missile Division of the Strategic Missile Forces spend several minutes on direct preparation for launch.

Unlike most large formations of the Strategic Missile Forces, the 7th Missile Division does not have aviation regiments or silos - there is a clear direction of work. Military personnel of the Strategic Missile Forces regiments in the villages of Bologoye-4 and Vypolzovo thoroughly study modern PGRKs, and as part of combat missions, they test in practice not only their readiness for launches, but also their cross-country ability, speed, and “survivability.”

ZATO "Ozerny", where the 7th Rezhitsa Guards Missile Division is located, is a completely autonomous settlement - the infrastructure of the military camps is well developed. There are schools, sports facilities, cultural centers, factories, an Orthodox church: in this regard, the 7th Missile Division can safely be called exemplary - however, it has always been such, in 1963 even Fidel Castro stayed here.

Officers, of course, live in apartments on the territory of the settlement, soldiers - in barracks. The Strategic Missile Forces division in Ozerny, as we have already said, is not one of the newly formed ones - the barracks in the 7th Missile Division are also of the traditional type (not cockpit), but quite clean and quite suitable for living. There are also sports facilities, a canteen and a first-aid post - in general, everything is standard.

The everyday life of military personnel is training in the operation of a PGRK; by the way, according to the testimony of those who drove the huge mobile missile system in service with the Strategic Missile Forces, the vehicle is incredibly passable and has an incredibly soft ride. There is nothing surprising here - one of the reasons for the success of the Topol mobile systems not only in the Russian Strategic Missile Forces, but also in the world is the unique suspension system. It not only provides excellent movement and overcoming any obstacles, but also the ability for the Strategic Missile Forces troops to launch from soft ground.

An unusual museum was created on the territory of the 7th Missile Division in 1994, which is still functioning today. By the end of 1994, the Ozerny Strategic Missile Forces troops were finally transferred to the PGRK, most of the silos were blown up and flooded, but they decided not to destroy one silo - today, therefore, visitors can get acquainted with the launch system of the famous Soviet ballistic missiles "Satan". Let us note that we are not talking about an outdated system - the same silo launchers still form the basis of the armament of the Strategic Missile Forces. The photo below shows the launch of the Voyevoda from a silo, not in the 7th Missile Division, however.

The era of disarmament resulted in very serious losses for the 7th Missile Division - nine regiments of the Strategic Missile Forces were disbanded, an incredible amount of weapons were destroyed, and military camps were abandoned. However, it survived, remained a combat-ready part of the Strategic Missile Forces, and today it is a “light” and mobile instant response unit with nuclear weapons.

In accordance with the Directive of the Minister of Defense of the USSR, dated May 25, 1960, in June 1960 at the base 19th Guards Cannon Artillery Brigade Rezhitsa, relocated from the settlement of Gatchina, was formed 7th Missile Engineering Brigade with a deployment in the village of Vypolzovo, Kalinin region (Bologoye-4). The formation took place on the housing stock of the 25th mixed aviation division of the 6th separate air defense army. Guard Colonel P.P. Uvarov was appointed commander of the missile brigade. The brigade's strength reached 9,000 people (soldiers and sergeants). Initially, the brigade was part of the 46th artillery training range, and from March 10, 1961, it became part of the 3rd Separate Guards Rocket Corps.

The first to be formed was a missile regiment (military unit 14264) of three divisions: two with ground-based launchers and one with a silo launcher. On November 30, 1960, the brigade commander reported to the commander-in-chief on the completion of the formation of the missile brigade - military unit 14245. From the beginning of 1961, planned training with the R-5 missile began.

On February 11, 1963, the first division (BSP-12) entered combat duty (CD) with two R-16s with ground launchers. In total, in 1963-1964, six divisions (BSP) entered the combat base: four with ground-based launchers and two with silo-based launchers.

Since 1965, the division began preparations for the construction of new-generation BSP missile systems with silo launchers for individual launches (“OS”). In pursuance of the General Staff directive of March 31, 1966, 6 OS missile regiments with UR-100 (8K84) missiles were formed. In 1967, the first “OSovsky” regiment entered the military base (military unit 97688).

Since 1973, work began on removing the UR-100 from combat duty and installing new 15P015 complexes with the MR-UR-100 (15A15) missile on the database (since 1977 it was replaced by the 15P016 complex with the MR-UR-100U). The first regiment with the 15A15 missile entered the base on May 6, 1975. During the period from October 15, 1975 to October 3, 1978, 8 more regiments went on duty, replacing the Chelomeevskaya UR-100 with the Yangelevskaya MR-UR-100.

Since 1982, according to the General Staff plan, part of the “OS” regiments with MR-UR-100 were taken off duty and disbanded, some were transferred to the improved 15P016 complex.

In 1994, the last OSovsky missile regiment was removed from the database. In accordance with the decision of the Council of Ministers of Russia, military unit 14264 was organized on the basis of one of the combat launching positions (SPU) Museum of the Missile Forces, has now been disbanded for undisclosed reasons. On December 30, 1994, the first OSovsky regiment (military unit 14264) was transferred to the Topol PGRK with the RT-2PM missile (15Zh58). On December 27, 1996, the second regiment (military unit 52642) “Topol” was stationed at the base. In the fall of 1996, combat crews of the division's missile regiments conducted two successful combat training launches at the Plesetsk training ground.
