How to run iOS games on Android. How to run iOS applications on Android? The best emulators

It’s hard to imagine users of the Android or iOS mobile operating system who have never dreamed of looking into their competitors’ “yard.” Look at the available functions, install iOS on Android, look at the speed of the menu and evaluate the entire collection of available applications in Google Play and the App Store.

Just a few years ago one could only dream of such an opportunity, but recently everything has changed. Independent developers from Columbia University have already invented Cider and iEMU. Each of the listed tools, although not great, still copes with the task quite well - it reproduces the basic capabilities of iOS on Android.

Is it possible to run iOS applications on Android?

Yes, and without Root rights, complex settings and instructions that can take up several hours of your precious life. Everything is much simpler:

Emulators and other tools

At the moment, apart from the emulators listed above, none of the available tools can cope with the task of reproducing the basic capabilities of iOS:

iEMU Emulator

A fun way to learn an operating system designed for Apple technology. The advantages are excellent optimization, a well-designed interface that easily adapts to the screen resolution of a smartphone or tablet. In addition, the developers also took care of the built-in store with applications that go beyond the “starting” powers of the system.

There are a lot of technical errors and shortcomings at the moment - when interacting with the desktop, the response time is too long. In addition, the emulator has difficulty connecting to the network, does not allow you to track your location on a map or use the App Store.

One of the advantages is working with archives and various file extensions that have long been familiar to Android. Apple interface. Setup is quick, and system resources do not impact overall performance.

Cider

A rapidly developing, but no longer official emulator, which became the main surprise in the world of mobile technology. Developers from Columbia University depicted the iOS operating system so well that even Apple developers became worried. Cider was able to provide access to an amazing desktop that runs incredibly smoothly and allows you to look into a whole collection of different sections. Here you can access notes, and work with the App Store (at this stage there are a lot of problems: some applications are downloaded, due to the static and no longer updated version of iOS, it’s not worth dreaming about the opportunity to launch some Apple exclusives), it’s possible to feel all the speed of Safari and even familiarity with some gestures.

The main advantages are fast operation speed, the ability to install Cider without Root rights, and quick setup. Of the minuses - no prospects (the project is closed and is no longer updated, you don’t have to expect any surprises, most likely, the guys from Apple have already hired students), imperfect implementation of some features, problems with finding a geoposition.

AndroidHacks

If the options listed above do not inspire you (and what else – no stability!), then another option is available. Attention! The described instructions are designed for real extreme sports enthusiasts, experimenters, those who are used to sitting without folding their hands.

Take care of your own device - create a backup copy both on your computer and in cloud storage. Read the instructions for restoring your smartphone if for some reason everything gets out of control. And one more thing - under no circumstances try to recommend this method to your friends, otherwise the problems will spread to others!

  1. Immediately after preparation (once again - be sure to carry out a series of the listed measures - backup, save settings, if desired, you should clear the internal memory and external sources data) - go to the website and study the available instructions (the project developers carefully described each item, and at the same time posted a list of minimum requirements - namely: Android 4.0 and higher and 1 GB RAM. If the requirements are too high, please don’t even try!);
  2. As with emulators (which are much more stable and secure), Root rights are not needed, and installation takes place in a few seconds;
  3. The idea of abandoning such an installation has not yet disappeared? This means that the last step remains - click on the “Dual-Boot-iOS” button located at the bottom of the only available page. Wait for the procedure to complete and begin testing.

As foreign colleagues say, the method works and gives access to a whole list of interesting features - including access to the App Store, but with one caveat - operating room emulation iOS systems incomplete: no calls, SMS requests, the ability to track a location on a map, download data and work in the way that owners of Apple equipment are used to.

As a result, each of the listed methods suffers from a bunch of shortcomings and is suitable for one-time experiments.

Hello everyone, dear readers. I recently wrote about an emulator of Apple’s mobile operating system – iOS for Windows. To be honest, I did not expect the article to gain such popularity. Well, oh well, as they say, this just makes me feel better.

Some readers, having studied this article, are asking a completely logical question: how to run iOS on the Android operating system and whether there is even such an emulator on the application market on Google Play.

This issue is not as simple as it might seem at first glance. The emulator seems to be there and it seems to be not.

Current situation

The Android operating system is significantly different from the iOS operating system. The difference is both in the programming language and in various functionality. For this reason, you will not be able to run a full version of iOS on Android. It will only be a weak imitation, which you are unlikely to like.

It is also possible to install iOS firmware on your Android gadget, but if you choose this method, there is a high probability that your device will turn into a “brick”. Since iOS firmware requires quite a lot of resources, you need an appropriate gadget. I wouldn’t risk an expensive Android gadget to get not even iOS, but its weak imitation.

But, there are a couple of tools that allow you to try some of the delights of iOS on your Android. Below I will tell you a little about them.

Cider

You can run programs on your Android gadget using an emulator (although this is not quite a full-fledged emulator), called Cider. I repeat that there are no full-fledged emulators, but Cider is so far the best that is on the application market on this topic.

According to the official website, this application is being developed by six enthusiastic students who decided to build a good iOS emulator for the Android operating system. It seems to me that things are moving slowly for them, the project is stuck at the alpha testing stage.

Below you can see an example of how the emulator works. The video was recorded by the developers themselves.

Launchers

You can learn a little about launchers from this video.

If you don't need the functionality of iOS, but just its nice appearance, then there are no problems here. To give your Android system appearance iOS, you can use special launchers, of which, thank God, there are plenty of them on Google Play.

For example, at one time I used a launcher called Fake iPhone 4S. As you can guess from the name, this launcher turns your Android operating system into iOS 6. Of course, now there are more modern launchers on Google Play that can give your system the look of iOS 7 or 8. To find a launcher suitable for your device, just go on Google Play and search for “Launcher iOS”.

From the list received, choose the one that suits you, everything is simple here, just like forex)).

And finally, if you want to use full-fledged iOS, then it’s better to buy yourself some kind of Apple device.
That's all for today, don't forget to express your opinion in the comments to this post, maybe you have found some good emulator. I will also be glad if you share these materials on social networks.

Do you want to trade on the foreign exchange market directly from your Android gadget? Then open a demo account on Forex for Android. Why sit at a computer when you can trade directly from your phone.

Installing Android on iPhone and iPad: What should we do Droid?

Apple products are a successful combination of design, performance and functionality. At the end, the consumer receives a whole product, which is even inconvenient to separate into hardware and software components. The decisive role in this identification, first of all, was played by the closed nature of all Apple platforms, while the Android OS can be modified as much as you like and installed anywhere.

It is for this reason that the Android OS operating system has been installed on such a huge number of devices that we do not even dare to list them. Already today in official retail you can find Android smartphones, tablets, media players, e-books, netbooks, mp3 players and televisions. But in the unofficial...

Through apples to the stars.

Probably, the confrontation between Apple and Google, this cold war without winners and losers, will last indefinitely. Moreover, you shouldn't expect Apple to open up mobile device architecture to manufacturers. Suffice it to recall the epic with unlock iOS (unlinking the iPhone from the operator cellular communication) or jailbreak (gaining access to the iOS root file system). The company carefully protects the consumer integrity of its mobile platform and reacts very harshly to attempts to break through the defenses of iOS.

But can this reason stop a real enthusiast who has in his hands the Android mobile OS platform with excellent functionality and open source code? After all, it is thanks to its openness that the Android OS, originally intended for ARM processors, was successfully ported to other platforms - for example, Intel x86.

Can you tell me how to do this?

As it turned out, installing Android on iPhone and iPad is a task that is difficult to complete, not at all feasible, or feasible but impossible. To date, several projects have been created for porting Android to iOS devices, of which I would like to highlight iPhoDroid and iDroid. Basically, iPhoDroid is just a side branch large-scale project iDroid. The difference between them is that in the first case, the user will need to download the Bootlace installation package via Cydia, which will install the Open iBoot boot loader on the iPhone. To install Android OS on an iOS device using iPhoDroid, you will only need to download the OpenSSH installation package from Cydia, and then it’s a matter of technology.

We would like to note that today, any of the possible installations of Android on the iPhone involves something like Boot Camp or dual boot: the standard iOS on the device remains untouched, but a second alternative Android OS system appears.

So, before installing Android OS on your iPhone, you will need to download Bootlace, which is located in the Neonkoala repository at http://repo.neonkoala.co.uk/ and add this resource to Cydia. Bootlace developer Nick Dawson decorated his creation with an icon depicting a worn-out shoe - this is exactly what should appear in the Cydia resource.

In short, Bootlace is a kind of client that allows the user to connect to the server and download OpeniBoot along with iDroid for subsequent installation on an Apple device. In addition, the application independently determines the current version of iDroid and, moreover, checks the compatibility of the hardware with the iDevice firmware.

The OpeniBoot installation itself takes a few minutes. Once booted, Bootlace notifies the user that changes have been made to the iOS kernel and OpeniBoot is ready for “multi-boot business.”

When you reboot the device, three launch options will appear on the display: iOS (the default mobile platform), OpeniBoot console (a console for accessing OpeniBoot from a PC connected via USB to the iDevice) and iDroid (an item for the Android OS that has not yet been installed). Switching between options is done using the power key, selection is done by pressing the Home button.

Of course, you need to select iOS and, after launching Bootlace, install iDroid. In the future, the installed iDroid can not only be removed, but also updated if the Bootlace client detects a new version.

So, all that remains is to reboot our iDevice and select that same green robot as boot.

What to expect?

Indeed, there are no problems installing Android on iOS devices, and the same iDroid can be installed literally in one click. The situation is complicated by the fact that the research path led developers to only three models of i-devices - iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 1G. Regarding support for other Apple devices like iPad, iPad 2 or iPhone 4, the developer’s answer is short and clear: “Porting in progress.”

If we talk about the immediate results of the iDroid project, so far we have a typical alpha, which involves a whole bunch of restrictions and significant shortcomings. The bottom line is that the consumer will receive an iOS device with a fit, fresh major in the face of the standard iOS system and a thrice-wounded disabled veteran of the Japanese War in the face of the Android OS. The developers do not hide minor flaws (if they can be called minor at all) and warn all daredevils ready for the experiment directly on home page site: “Video, flash animation, 3D effects, camera module, image gallery, battery charge management and some other options may not work correctly for you.” The result of dancing with a tambourine, the iDroid smartphone with an apple on the back panel works uncertainly with wi-fi, does not have a single service from Google and does not have a truly functional GPU driver. This is such a sad thing, friends!

Is it worth installing android on iphone?

In fact, porting another OS to another platform is not an easy task, but it is quite doable. It is much more difficult to debug everything, get all the components working and release truly stable firmware. Needless to say, how many alternative firmwares exist for the Android OS, but ask yourself: do they all work correctly?

In the case of iOS devices, the situation is somewhat different. The very fact of the release of firmware for devices seemingly incompatible with the Android OS (even if these firmware are frail and unstable) is at least encouraging. Once again you are convinced that the company created Google mobile Android OS is able to live and develop further on the devices of its potential competitor. The true value of all the alpha attempts of the iDroid project lies not in the consumer properties of the resulting dual-OS smartphone, but in the victory of enthusiasm and inquisitive mind developers on a deeply non-trivial task - porting an open mobile OS to closed platform. In capable hands, freely distributed Android code was able to develop into a second version of the operating system for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Another confirmation of the versatility of the Android OS gives rise to additional keen interest among developers, which, without a doubt, only benefits end users like you and me.
