Why do people live poorly? Is it easy to be young

  • Nowadays, people live longer than ever before in human history, but they do so until a certain age.
  • No one lived longer than Jeanne Calment: this centenarian from France was born in 1875, lived for 122 years, and died in 1997.

As scientists have found, the natural limit of human life expectancy is 125 years. And this despite the fact that the average human lifespan is constantly growing from year to year, but the mark remains uncrossed to this day, because so far not a single representative of the human race has managed to live more than 122 years.

Researchers believe that genetics are to blame, which do not allow people to grow beyond a certain age limit naturally. In a word, simply leading a healthy lifestyle and regularly being examined by a doctor is no longer enough to cross the line at 125 years.

Why is it that the average person lives longer these days than ever before in history? This became possible thanks to the successes of medicine and social security, and also because of significant progress in the field of technology: it is easier to live now than in the Stone Age.

At the same time, as some experts believe, the current maximum life expectancy is a natural limit beyond which we cannot “jump” unless, of course, we resort to the services of genetic engineering and pharmacology to stop or slow down the process of gradual “extinction.” If it were not for the natural limit, the list of the oldest people in the world would be longer than the current one.

Be that as it may, over the past few decades, the average life expectancy of earthlings has been steadily increasing, and this is a convincing argument in favor of the fact that the maximum limit is a very relative category.

Indeed, according to world statistics, life expectancy is increasing, but this is largely due to a decrease in infant and child mortality, and not due to an increase in the overall life expectancy of the adult population.

How to live longer?

So, figuring out ways to “live longer” is the task of a team of scientists led by Professor Jan Vijg from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, New York. Simply put, the guys asked themselves the question: is it possible to brazenly cross the eternal line and allow yourself to enjoy life longer?

In order to somehow clarify the situation regarding “ultimate longevity,” analysts from Professor Weig’s group “walked through” the International Database on Longevity, which contains demographic statistics for 41 countries in the period from 1968 to 2006.

In addition to the World Database, they also dug through the files of the Gerontological Research Group, which chronologically covers a data set from 1972 to 2015.

All these “age archives” give scientists an idea of who lives, where, and for how long. Basically, those people whose age has “exceeded” 110 years are included in the database.

Life expectancy and mortality rate among the planet's inhabitants

Researchers have found that, on average, people are living longer than before, but only up to a certain age.

How did they come to this conclusion? Demographers-gerontologists have compiled a graph that shows the curve of life expectancy growth by age and the dynamics of peaks by year.

It follows from the graph that in the 1970s - 1980s. The average age of centenarians at which they died became increasingly older - the average life expectancy increased.

In the 1990s, the curve “reached a plateau”: the dynamics of growth in the number of elderly people and centenarians slowed down, and their average age at the time of death “freezes” at around 100 - 110 years. Perhaps this is precisely the limit, the limit of life expectancy allotted to us by nature itself.

Increase in life expectancy by age since 1960 and the dynamics of its peak by year.

What does this give us? This gives the realization that human life is limited, and every moment must be appreciated. And this is also a “stone in the garden” for those who believe that it is possible to resist Mother Nature, but the results of the database analysis convincingly indicate the opposite.

Despite advances in health and social welfare over the past 150 years that have stimulated increased life expectancy, mortality among centenarians remains stubbornly high.

Demographers believe that the plateau was reached in the mid-1990s, when the Frenchwoman Jeanne Calment, the oldest person to ever live on Earth, died at the age of 122, and this is documented.

Thus, today the average maximum human life expectancy is 115 years, and Jeanne Kalman’s record, according to some experts, is a statistical outlier, that is, a result that differs significantly from the sample average.

So, the absolute limit of human life expectancy is 125 years, and the probability that one of us will repeat, well, or beat Jeanne Calment’s record is 1/10,000.

The oldest person to ever live on Earth

Frenchwoman Jeanne Calment is the “world grandmother”, because she managed to live 122 years and 164 days. She held the title of "oldest living person on Earth" longer than any other centenarian. Kalman's lifestyle, genetics and other medical characteristics have become the subject of research by many specialists.

Jeanne far outlived her husband, who died at the age of 73. Kalman did not lead a healthy lifestyle: she smoked until she was 117 years old, but at the same time she was actively involved in sports: she played tennis, rode a bicycle until she was 100, took fencing lessons, and loved to walk in nature.

In general, with the exception of smoking, everything contributed to Zhanna on her path to longevity: good genetics (there were long-livers in the family) and an active lifestyle.

What sets her apart from the total number of centenarians on the planet? Here's what: the dates of her birth and death are documented. Researchers have her birth and baptismal certificates, as well as census data. For example, her name appears in 16 different censuses conducted from 1875 to 1975.

Perhaps one of the already deceased or still living centenarians repeated her record, but such people cannot prove this for lack of appropriate documents.

In short, not everyone is lucky enough to be born in a country where every resident has a birth certificate, and regular population censuses are commonplace.

Jeanne was so old that she had a chance to deal with one of the founders of post-impressionism: in her youth, when she was 13 years old, she met Van Gogh. In those years, Kalman worked part-time in her father’s shop. According to her, the artist seemed to her “dirty, poorly dressed and unfriendly.”

Each of us, sooner or later, is faced with the feeling that life is meaningless, everything goes in circles, an understanding sets in: neither in twenty nor in forty years nothing will change, only health will begin to fail and more and more energy will be spent on everyday affairs, and life , actually, there is no need. What to do if you don't want to live? Doomed to face depression? Everyone experiences this state in their own way: some will resign themselves and continue to “pull the burden,” while others begin to overcome the crisis by buying expensive cars, changing husbands or wives, and others even begin to have thoughts of suicide.

Psychologists say: suicidal thoughts that appear occasionally are quite normal and even typical for teenagers, the main thing is that their occurrence is really rare and ends with an adequate assessment of the situation and an awareness of the need to move on.

  • The onset of a stage at which, according to the prevailing opinion of the majority, a person should have accumulated a baggage of benefits or obligations.

By the age of twenty-five, a woman is increasingly reminded of the notorious biological clock, which is ticking inexorably, and if she has not acquired a husband and child and has not done anything for this, the pressure of the public circle can lead her to depression. From a man to thirty, depending on his social circle and social status, he is expected to have successful career growth, to have a car and other attributes of an “established life,” and a lonely, childless bachelor of an ordinary profession may fall into depression simply because he has not achieved the heights that he himself, maybe he didn’t want to achieve it, but it seemed like he should have wanted to do it.

  • “The program is completed” is the opposite state of affairs to the above, when the individual knows that in his years he has achieved everything that he could achieve, and there is nothing more to want.

This situation and depression against its background are typical for a circle of wealthy, successful people who have everything, have nothing else to do, and their nature demands to achieve further results, but both in the family and professional sense, everything is so successful that there is nowhere to move - the life program has been completed . This is also typical for retirees: after leaving work, they do not know what to do with their free time, especially if the children have grown up, and the grandchildren do not require regular help and supervision, and their social circle becomes scarce.

  • “Vicious circle” is an option in which an individual develops squirrel-in-a-wheel syndrome.

Events are repeated day after day, nothing changes, there are no striking incidents that make it possible to distinguish one day from another, and a reasonable question arises: why do I exist at all? For what? The next step comes the realization: I don’t want to live. A person usually does not know what to do in this situation, and if he or his loved ones do not realize it in time, everything can end in depression.

How to get out of clinical depression

The worst prospect for those who are tired of life is the development of clinical depression. Clinical depression is not a momentary sadness that can be successfully eaten with sweets among friends, but a serious medical diagnosis, and it will not be possible to cope with it without help. You can try to push depression inside and survive everything on your own, but sooner or later it will hit you with triple force. Clinical depression creeps up unnoticed - everything seems to be fine, only the person is a little sad, but this happens to everyone, and then he is sad for a month, two, three, his mood fluctuates, irritability, tearfulness appear, appetite and sleep disappear, the desire to communicate disappears , the circle of friends is narrowing, he doesn’t want to do anything... It would seem, just think, what trifles, but the depressed state increases, and without appropriate treatment, with the indifference of those around him, a person can reach the point of committing suicide simply because he is sure: he doesn’t want to live, and never want to. If you suspect that you have latent depression, if attempts to distract yourself with sports, hobbies, reading and communicating with people fail over and over again, there is only one way to save yourself: consult a doctor immediately.

Lack of “life’s work” - how to fix it

If, after an examination, a psychiatrist confirmed that depression is not your case, think about what is the reason for your reluctance to live. Often the main problem is the lack of a goal, a kind of beacon towards the light of which a person goes, overcoming obstacles. Anything can be a beacon: moving up the career ladder, finding a loved one, joining a certain social circle, marriage, the birth of a child, improving your financial situation. Each individual has his own goal, his own vision of the ideal result. Often we simply do not have a goal to strive for. We, foolish teenagers, don’t know what we want to do in life, we go to the universities that our parents chose for us, we study for a specialty that seemed prestigious or lucrative to our parents, by inertia we start working - and continue, without understanding why. Whole life turns into a series of earning money in order to exist in between work, sometimes communicate with friends, spend hours on social networks in a sluggish fight against depression, portray to oneself a hectic existence from “like” to “like”, pointlessly expanding the circle communication. But one day there comes a moment when we simply cannot help but admit: we don’t want to live. We don't know what to do with this.

The way out of the situation is simple: just think, look around, impartially assess what exactly irritates you most in life - the need to pull the burden at work, lack of hobbies, or a loved one who has long ceased to be loved... And change - the job, the person, yourself.

It seems that radically changing your entire established life is an exorbitant burden. In fact, giving up the hated part of it causes such euphoria that you don’t want to return to everyday existence, especially since returning to the past, if necessary, is not so difficult.

Unsatisfactory personal life - what to do next

Another common situation is the realization of the fact that your personal life has not worked out. The realization may be sudden or gradual, but in any case, the idea “I will never find a loved one with whom I will build a family or relationship” begins to dominate everyone else. You can be a professional of the highest level, a great friend with a huge social circle, but an empty apartment, everyday joys that you have no one to share with - all this can drive even the most self-confident person to depression. Someone solves the problem by changing gentlemen or ladies like gloves in a vain attempt to find that same happiness in life, someone decides to live out their life alone, someone stands at a crossroads, asking: “I don’t want to live, what should I do? » In this case, the best way to change the whole situation and make life interesting is:

  • expand your social circle, which for many is limited to work colleagues and regular friends;
  • get a pet - this will automatically open up a new world for you, in which there will be owners of other animals, you can communicate with them, exchange experiences;
  • look for an exciting activity outside the walls of the office and at home: sports, floriculture, hobbies, anything that involves communicating with lovers of the same type of activity. This will not only expand your social circle, but also increase interest in life, develop a desire to learn something new, give you small but important goals, or even some kind of global dream for your whole life.

Pension and completed program - how not to lose interest in life

Often a crisis overtakes a person in adulthood, and the reason for this is the feeling that the program of his whole life has been completed: children have left the family nest, grandchildren are brought on weekends or holidays, work as a life’s work has also disappeared, and the individual is left alone with himself and depression, outside the usual social circle. And then it turns out that he doesn’t know how to live without work, and he’s simply never been left alone without the need to rush all the time. He doesn't know what to do with the newfound peace!
As a result, the individual comes to the idea: I don’t want to live, I don’t know what to do, it’s time to get ready for the grave. This almost never happens in the lives of active, socially adapted people - for them leaving work is not a step into depression, but a reason to finally start doing everything: realizing all their dreams and plans, taking up gardening, restoring furniture, studying historical books.

For relatives who complain in their declining years, saying, “I don’t want to live, what should I do?” it’s worth considering an adaptation program. And providing a pensioner with problems in the form of grandchildren and great-grandchildren is not the best idea, because sooner or later all children grow up, acquire hobbies, and the pensioner will again plunge into depression throughout his life.

It’s better to teach him how to use a computer, go to a local neighborhood club or leisure center, and discuss everything that he would like to collect to fill his life. In no case should he confine himself to his family and relatives; on the contrary, his circle of interests and communication should be expanded so that the pensioner does not live from meeting to meeting with his children and grandchildren. If it seems that everything has been done, if you are afraid of life in poverty without family and children, if you don’t know what to want, just look around and understand what exactly is stopping you from feeling interested in life. You may have hit a depression fence near where the gate is installed, just turn your head to see it. Author of the article Ekaterina Putilina

Some people face situations in life when life becomes unbearable, unnecessary and devoid of any meaning. Such phenomena may be temporary. Sometimes an obsession: “I don’t want anything!” does not leave a person for quite a long time. It must be fought, otherwise it can have detrimental consequences for a person, in the form of complete detachment and apathy, even death.

What to do if you don’t want to live?

The fact that a person does not want to live in the world is influenced by various factors. Most often this happens as a result of past or upcoming difficulties, the death of loved ones, relatives. The loss of loved ones is perceived less painfully when relatives die as a result of a long illness or old age. If death overtakes a young person full of strength, his loved ones may experience long-term depression. This often happens when a beloved husband, child, sister, or brother passes away. In this case, from a wife or mother distraught with grief, you can hear: “I don’t want to live, what should I do next if I don’t want to live?” This condition may go away over time, or it may last for years. A person should find the strength to fight and live on. Recommendations and advice on how to find the strength for recovery and normal rhythm are of a different nature. Hints and advice should come from those people whom the suffering man or grief-stricken woman trusts. The first thing they offer to a woman who laments: “I don’t want to survive in this world without him!” This is advice: “You need to fight and be strong!”

Reasons why a person does not want to live

  • constant physical pain that does not subside with any medication;
  • an incurable disease that will lead to death after a certain period of time (oncology, severe tuberculosis, HIV infection);
  • lack of interest in life;
  • unsettled family life, loneliness;
  • separation from family, misunderstanding of children;
  • full implementation of the life program;
  • clinical depression;
  • retirement and feeling of uselessness;
  • big troubles at work;
  • youthful and girlish unrequited love;
  • teenage selfishness;
  • loss of meaning in life;
  • fear of imprisonment;
  • credit collapse, other debts;
  • complete lack of money.

The most important advice when life becomes unbearable is to fight it, drive away thoughts of the bad, and hope for better changes.

Why does a person not want to live and how to deal with it?

Each individual situation has its own tips and recommendations. The main emphasis is that God gave life and will take it away after your mission in this world is completed. You shouldn’t go against nature, which means life goes on, and you need to fight for it! What to do if you don’t want to live, tips:

  1. Get a pet.
  2. Do sports, housework, and handicrafts.
  3. Lead a healthy lifestyle, try to lose weight.
  4. Fall in love.
  5. Find a passion.
  6. Change your image.
  7. Travel.
  8. Learn to love yourself.
  9. Do charity work.
  10. Drive away bad thoughts.
  11. Set a goal for yourself.
  12. Fight for every day you live!

It has been noticed that some people experience their uselessness in this world when they retire and are left without their other half. Grandfather is full of desire to give advice, to lead, to do something, to create, but he is cut off mid-sentence. They don’t consult him and don’t take his recommendations into account. From such neglect on the part of children, grandchildren, and others, the pensioner is deeply disappointed. In this case, we can advise you to get a pet dog or, as a last resort, a cat. You will have the opportunity to care for and talk to the animal. It will not be superfluous to communicate on social networks on the Internet, dates, meetings. If you have the means, you can go on a trip, to visit school or college friends.

What to do if you don’t want to live in Moscow, Russia?

We don’t choose our homeland; it is given to us at birth and is absorbed in childhood. But this does not mean that you need to live in your homeland all your life. When a young man says: “I don’t want to live in Russia, what should I do?”, you shouldn’t force him. If you don’t like Moscow or Russia, move to any city in Ukraine, Georgia, Europe, the USA, Africa. In this case, there is no point in fighting.

The child wants to live with his father, what to do?

Boys often become attached to their fathers, repeating their actions, words, and statements. For a child, a father is a friend and comrade, an example in everything. If it happens that the parents separate, the boy experiences the separation bitterly. He wants to live with his “idol” even if he left his mother and went to someone else’s aunt. There is nothing wrong with this and there is no need to fight it. The boy will eventually understand the situation and will be glad to meet his father. Girls love their father, but most often stay with their mother.

The child does not want to live with his mother, what should I do?

Every child and adult needs a mother. This is the person who will never betray or abandon. If a child does not want to live with his mother, then there are compelling arguments for this. This means that there is a loving grandmother, aunt, sister, father, with whom the child feels comfortable and protected. Sometimes this occurs with teenage selfishness and misunderstanding of the situation. Every mother will fight for the love of her children.

If the world suddenly begins to seem gray and nothing in life makes us happy, we are often ready to give up on life itself. If you seriously think about not wanting to live, then this is a symptom of depression. Often a low mood is combined with poor sleep and changes in appetite (strong increase or decrease). Of course, if you can't bring yourself to get up and do everyday activities, ask your loved ones to arrange a meeting with a good psychotherapist. However, except in very serious cases, depression should be treated without pills. “I don’t want to live, what should I do?” - this question is increasingly being sought in search engines. Let's talk about what can help. Firstly, if you are thinking about means of suicide, I can tell you that the methods that work 100% are excruciatingly painful. However, what is more terrible is not the torment before death, but the horrors that will await after it. According to some church authorities, suicides experience near-death suffering an infinite number of times. Suicide will not relieve pain, it will lead you to eternal prison. They will not be able to pray for you; God does not accept prayers for those who have rejected his gift of life. There can be no peace for a suicide; only people who have endured suffering on earth and have not given up can find true peace. So tell yourself that suicide is not for you. Secondly, you need to try to get away from the human world for a while to the natural world. It's good to go camping with a tent for a few days. Often depression occurs due to the fact that a person is overloaded with communication and cannot fully relax. It’s also good, if you have the means, to rent a room for one in a sanatorium and be alone. Often after several days, when you hear the sound of flowing water, the sound of the forest, the singing of birds, you begin to look at the world differently. What to do if you're tired of living? Get away from annoying factors for a while. Thirdly, try to give yourself maximum physical activity. “I don’t want to live, what should I do?” Work yourself to the point of exhaustion. Set a goal to run at least 20 km - and complete the task, after you do this, your biochemical state will change dramatically. You will only want to eat, drink and sleep. And the next day, when you get up in the morning, you will immediately feel a new state. And you have a chance to change your mood this way. By the way, depression is successfully treated with electroconvulsive therapy. Isn’t it better to create a lot of stress for yourself, without waiting until really strong measures are needed? Fourth, start cleaning the house. Things that irritate and stress you, just throw them away. This provides wonderful relief from depression. When you don't encounter unpleasant things, your perception of the world often changes. Get rid of photos of your ex and his gifts if the sight of them spoils your mood. Your well-being is worth more. Fifth, seek communication with supportive people. Just don’t drink alcohol - it increases depression, and only slightly lifts the mood for people in normal condition. And drunk people ask, “I don’t want to live, what should I do?” becomes more acute and more often ends in suicide. In addition, it turns off the brain - the only thing that can help you in a situation of depression. So don't cut the branch you're sitting on. If you don't have close people you can trust, call the helpline. Sixth, look for what needs to change in your life. Perhaps you live with the wrong person, study at the wrong institute and work in a job you hate. These stresses resulted in depression every day, and therefore the question “I don’t want to live, what should I do?” sounds not like a question, but like a cry from the heart. Until you change your circumstances, things won't get easier for you. Don't want to live? What can you do to make life more colorful? Learn to love what is, because when we are depressed we look at the world narrowly and don’t see much. Give yourself the right to make mistakes. And the right to change lives. Your actions may seem unreasonable to your loved ones, but this is your life and only you are responsible for it. So follow your heart and look for new sources of inspiration.

There are a lot of useful and necessary things from the ship. In addition, Robinson obtained food without much difficulty, since there were goats on the island and tropical fruits and grapes grew in abundance. So, compared to his drowned comrades, he could feel like the darling of fate. Nevertheless, Robinson experienced a burning, painful melancholy. After all, he was alone. All his thoughts, all his desires were directed towards one thing: to return to people. What was Robinson missing? No one “stands over your soul”, no one points out what or restricts your freedom. But he lacked the most important thing - communication. After all, the entire human civilization testifies that only together, helping each other, people achieved success and overcame difficulties. It is no coincidence that the most terrible punishment among Stone Age people was considered expulsion from the clan or tribe. Such a person was simply doomed. Division of responsibilities and mutual assistance are the two main foundations on which the well-being of any human being is based. society: starting from the family and ending with the state. Not a single person, even one with colossal physical strength and the sharpest, deepest mind, can do as much as a group of people. Simply because he has no one to rely on, no one to consult with, no one to outline a work plan, no one to ask for help. There is no one to give instructions and no one to control, finally, if he has a pronounced nature. The feeling of one’s own will sooner or later lead to depression, and it can take the most severe forms. The same Robinson, in order not to go crazy from despair and melancholy, was forced to take a number of measures: he regularly kept a diary, made notches on his primitive “ ” - a pillar dug into the ground, talked aloud with cats and a parrot. There are situations when even the most proud and independent person just need help. For example, in case of a serious illness. What if there is no one nearby, and no one to even turn to? This could end very sadly. Finally, no self-respecting person can live without purpose. He needs to set some goals for himself and achieve them. But - such is the peculiarity of the human psyche - what is the use of achieving a goal if no one sees or appreciates it? What will all the efforts be for? So it turns out that a person cannot do without society.

There are people who choose global goals; they change their lives and the world of those around them. But there are those who do not have a vision for their life even in a year, but their existence is also filled with goals, only their scale is not too large.

A goal is a specific result that needs to be achieved. It can be very different; to achieve some, you will have to set complex tasks and look for ways to solve them, while others are very simple and understandable. A person’s life consists of millions of goals that are constantly being realized.

Dreams, plans and desires

There are people who draw a lot of beautiful images in their heads. In youth there are more desires, in maturity they are more balanced, but everyone has aspirations. A person simply decides on certain things; even in dreams, everyone allows himself to receive not everything, but something specific. Some people think about their business, about multimillion-dollar profits and conquering serious financial peaks. Others only allow themselves to think about a vacation at a cheap resort.

But dreams and goals are two different things. If a person begins to figure out how to make his dream come true, if he calculates the options and begins to fulfill them, this makes a simple desire an important goal. Not everyone is capable of this. Some people don’t know how to identify tasks, don’t understand the sequence of actions, and don’t see opportunities. Other people cannot consistently carry out their plan and give up without completing it. And there are even those who are afraid to try, to start achieving. The desire for global achievements is simply not necessary for everyone, and although they make life more exciting and bring more meaning to existence, not everyone considers it necessary.

Daily Goals

But people have small goals, they often fit into short periods of time and do not need to make global plans. For example, cooking dinner is a specific result that a person is going towards. To implement it, you need to come up with a menu, buy products and fulfill all the conditions of the recipe. This is a small goal that is easily achieved. And there can be a lot of such things in life.

The most common goals: go to work for a whole month according to a set schedule in order to receive a salary; fill the refrigerator so that there is something to eat; teach homework with your child to improve your child’s performance; visit the dentist, have healthy teeth, etc. Every day a person plans his small goals, he makes a list of necessary tasks that need to be completed in his head or in his diary. Life without such tasks for oneself is very difficult for a person; without an accurate idea of one’s plans, it is difficult to achieve something and live harmoniously.

Goal setting is an important process in life, people learn to do it from birth. Not everyone can live without such plans. But it’s surprising that not everyone knows how to make long-term plans, and not everyone has the patience. But it is in such skills that the key to success and prosperity lies.

Youth is a time that no adult has passed through. Old age will come to everyone sooner or later, and with it wisdom, material wealth, and status. But young people have an advantage that the older generation will never have.

“If youth knew, if old age could” is a classic formula for relationships between generations. The situation of young people in any society is quite difficult for a number of reasons. On the one hand, the young man is in the evaluation system of the older generation, but youthful maximalism does not allow the young man to fit into the system of the adult world without some conflicts. On the other hand, the lack of life experience, and often the lack of material resources, puts young people in an extremely delicate position in the social system.

Is it easy to be young

“Is It Easy to Be Young” is a documentary film of the Soviet period by Latvian filmmaker Yuri Podnieks, in which the problem of the social status of a young man in society was first raised. The answer was unequivocal - very difficult. The main reason for the difficulties of that period is the hypocrisy of society, the origins of which young people see in the older generation.

But the democratization of society smoothed out this problem. There are fewer lies in the world, fewer unfounded prohibitions, and as a result, there are fewer reasons for generational conflicts, at least at the societal level. That is, society has recognized the right of young people to maximalism and their own vision of the world.

From this position, being young today is easy and pleasant. The classic conflict between fathers and sons can be considered settled.

Financial problems of youth

When graduating from an educational institution, a young person in most cases is full of hopes for a “bright future.” But even after receiving a professional education, he cannot be sure that he will get a good paid job in his specialty. Moreover, an employer more often needs a specialist with work experience that a university graduate cannot obtain - this results in a vicious circle that is almost impossible to break.

A young man has to choose between working outside his specialty and alternative ways of implementing the acquired knowledge. But unlike his parents, the young man is more mobile in his actions, which allows him to take a decisive, extraordinary step and, for example, open his own business.

Young people face another intractable issue – the issue of housing. A young person can receive an apartment from the state in the most exceptional cases; even a young specialist cannot count on it. The choice remains between a mortgage, a rented apartment and living with parents. The first two options “eat up” a decent part of the budget. The third option calls into question independence and psychological comfort, especially if a young family has already been formed.

Thus, it is not easy to be young in any society and in any era. But young people have one advantage - youth, which compensates for all problems and which is envied by the older generation, who have built their own life and found their place in society.

Video on the topic

Both great philosophers and ordinary people searched for it. But none of them has yet come to a final conclusion, because this problem does not have a single solution. There are as many philosophical schools, as many opinions, and maybe even more.

And yet some were able to find logical answers that could explain the existence of man.

How often do we think about and live?

The most carefree time is childhood. During this period, we all run around like crazy around our homesteads, pretending to be pirates, superheroes, robots. Thousands of amazing ideas may swarm in our heads, but there is not a single question about the meaning of life. And why?

And only after crossing the threshold of adolescence does a person begin to look for an answer to it. “Why does a person live? What is its purpose? What is the meaning of my life? - all these questions troubled the hearts of each of us. But some quickly threw them away, switching to more pressing problems, while others, on the contrary, spent their whole lives in search of undeniable truth.

Ancient philosophers and the meaning of life

Aristotle once said: “Knowledge of the soul is the main task of a philosopher, since this can give answers to many questions...” Moreover, he believed that any thinker should look for meaning in everything, since this search is an integral part of ourselves. He taught that it is not enough to accept things as they are, you also need to understand why they are needed in this world.

The German philosopher Georg Hegel was also puzzled by the question of why man lives in this world. He believed that such a desire to know oneself is inherent in us by nature and is our true Self. Moreover, he argued: if you understand what role is assigned to a person, then it will be possible to unravel the purpose of other phenomena of the universe.

Also, do not forget about Plato and his thoughts about why man lives on earth. He was sure: the search for one's destiny is the highest good for a person. Partly, it was in these searches that his meaning of life was hidden.

God's plan, or Why do people live on the plan?

You can’t talk about the meaning of life without touching on the topic of religion. After all, all existing beliefs have on this issue. Their sacred texts give clear instructions on how one should spend one's life and what is the highest good for a person.

So, let's look at the most common denominations.

  • Christianity. According to the New Testament, all people are born to live a righteous life, which will give them a place in heaven. Therefore, their meaning in life is to serve the Lord and also to be merciful to others.
  • Islam. Muslims are not too far removed from Christians; their faith is also based on serving God, only this time it is Allah. In addition, every true Muslim must spread his faith and fight the “infidels” with all his might.
  • Buddhism. If you ask a Buddhist: “Why does a person live?”, he will most likely answer: “To become enlightened.” This is precisely the goal that all followers of Buddha pursue: to purify their minds and move to nirvana.
  • Hinduism. Everyone has a divine spark - Atman, thanks to which a person is reborn after death in a new body. And if he behaved well in this life, then at the next rebirth he will become happier or richer. The highest goal of existence is to break the circle of rebirth and indulge in oblivion, which gives pleasure and peace.

Scientific point of view on human purpose

Questioned the supremacy of the church. This was due to the fact that humanity received another version explaining the appearance of life on Earth. And if at first only a few agreed with this theory, then as science developed, its adherents became more and more numerous.

But how does science look at the issue we are discussing? Why does man live on earth? In general, everything is quite simple. Since man evolved from an animal, their goals are similar. What is the most important thing for every living organism? That's right, procreation.

That is, from a scientific point of view, the meaning of life lies in finding a reliable partner, reproducing offspring and caring for them in the future. After all, this is the only way to save a species from extinction and ensure a bright future.

Disadvantages of previous theories

Now we should talk about what shortcomings there are in these concepts. After all, both scientific and religious hypotheses are not capable of giving a comprehensive answer to the question: “Why do people live on earth?”

The disadvantage of scientific theory is that it highlights a general goal that is ideal for the entire species as a whole. But if we consider the problem on the scale of one individual, then the hypothesis loses its universality. After all, it turns out that those who are not able to have children are completely deprived of any meaning in life. And a healthy person is unlikely to like existing with the thought that his only purpose is to pass on his genes to his offspring.

The position of religious communities is also imperfect. After all, most religions place above the earthly. Moreover, if a person is an atheist or an agnostic, then his existence is devoid of any meaning. Many people do not like this kind of dogma, so over the years the foundations of the church begin to weaken. As a result, a person is again left alone with the question “why do people live on earth.”

How to find the truth?

So what now? What to do if the scientific point of view is not suitable, and the church point of view is too conservative? Where can I find the answer to such an important question?

In fact, there is simply no universal solution to the problem. Each person is an individual and therefore unique. Everyone must find their own path, their own meaning and their own values. This is the only way to find harmony within yourself.

However, it is not necessary to always follow one path. The beauty of life is that there are no set rules or boundaries. Everyone has the right to choose specific ideals for themselves, and if they seem false over time, they can always be replaced with new ones. For example, many people work half their lives to make a fortune. And when they achieve this, they understand that money is far from the main thing. Then they again begin to search for the meaning of existence, which can make them more beautiful.

The main thing is not to be afraid to think: “Why do I exist and what is my purpose?” After all, if there is a question, then there will definitely be an answer to it.

All people want to live happily, enjoy life and try to do everything possible for this. But sometimes, despite all their efforts, little is achieved. And understanding what they are doing wrong is often unbearably difficult. So why do people live poorly, what do they do wrong, or why are they so unlucky? We will try to answer these questions.

Why do people live poorly

People live poorly because they haven’t found the strength to admit that they don’t love themselves, that their low self-esteem prevents them from understanding that they deserve a good life and happiness. Deep down in their souls, they believe that they deserve only a life in which all their actions are aimed not at living well, but at earning love, showing that they are worthy of it. But everything is in vain, love cannot be earned, it either exists or it does not. And they can only give it to themselves.

One who does not know how to love himself, does not appreciate, respect and care for himself, allows others to ignore his desires, violate rights, passes by the misfortune of others and does not fight for himself will never become a happy person. In other words, he is a neurotic who suffers from low self-esteem, envy of others, resentment and disappointment and does nothing about it. And he is able to get rid of the darkness in the soul by exclusively offending or humiliating another, if he is a tyrant, and if he is a victim, he always gives in to others, tries not to offend anyone, renounces his own interests and desires, despite how bad his life is later from such concessions .

People who live poorly do not understand what a happy life means for them. Of course, they may think that they live well, choosing as an example the life that other people call happy, which is shown on TV, but this means nothing to their soul. This does not make them happy, does not make them feel delighted, maybe at the beginning they will be glad that their path to the goal is completed, but if this is not what they wanted, very soon disappointment will arise in their soul.

The reluctance to admit to himself that he is on the wrong path forces the neurotic to look for new goals, to indulge his greedy pride, to satisfy his insatiable ambitions, continuing to believe that after achieving the next goal he will definitely live better. And all this instead of stopping and figuring out what exactly it means for them to live well, and not for those around them. So they live in palaces, but are absolutely unhappy, not understanding what they still lack, because they have achieved everything that should have made their life better. Just when it is externally arranged, this does not mean that people will live happily.

The main thing is whether you like this life, whether you enjoy it, whether you are happy with what is happening around you, and whether you are ready to share this joy with others. Without the ability to love yourself, it is impossible to understand what you like, what brings joy, inspires, what you want to strive for, how to self-realize, to be proud of yourself, to enjoy what you have achieved.

When people don’t love themselves, they don’t care what happens around them, they don’t have the strength and motivation to fight, to defend their rights, values, and needs. They are not able to appreciate the damage that inaction and unwillingness to fight for themselves brings to them. But it does not arise, because deep in their souls, they may think that they are worthy only of this mess around them, although it is difficult for them to admit this, since with their minds no one wants a bad life for themselves.

Until people are able to find the strength to realize that everything that happens to them is partly their fault, because they once kept silent, passed by, were indifferent to the grief of others, nothing will change. They will be indignant at how bad everything is, why everyone around them is so lazy and cares only about themselves, without thinking that others think the same about them. So they talk about each other, instead of telling themselves that they are worthy of love, respect and a good life and that they have the power to make it that way. And say this to themselves until they feel that their self-doubt in their abilities disappears, and instead of it, faith arises in their soul... faith in the best, faith in themselves and in the fact that one person is capable of changing the world around him for the better . And he will definitely succeed, because he is strong, because he is human.

If you refuse to change and work on yourself, you won’t be able to live well, although it may seem so at first glance, because you won’t have to overcome the fear of criticism and possible mistakes. But your life is at stake, if you live all the time avoiding fears, this is no longer life, but an escape. Yes, and there will always be trials, this cannot be avoided.

Let's figure out why people live poorly

  • They are too often indifferent to what is happening around them and are indifferent. Their fear of expressing themselves, of speaking out on this or that matter, of saying what they don’t like, leads to chaos blooming around them. They sit in small apartments and are afraid to take the initiative, to contribute to the life around them that goes on behind the doors of their apartments. And as a result, due to this behavior of the majority, devastation, desolation and dullness begin to reign around, which there is no one to remove, because everyone expects this from others, but in the end no one does. Not realizing that this does not depend on someone from above, but on each of us.
  • Reluctance to help those in need, sign important petitions in defense of nature, human rights, write a statement if someone does not fulfill their duties, make a small charitable contribution, protect the weak, become a volunteer in an orphanage, foundations involved in the protection of nature, animals , people who find themselves in a difficult situation, spending a day off at least once a month in a shelter for homeless dogs and cats, feeding them, taking them for a walk, turns the world around them into a truly terrible place, where neither mercy, compassion and kindness reigns, but fear, hopelessness and grief. Is it possible to live well in such a place?
  • It is important to be kind, attentive, and caring. These are the qualities that can make life better. Without them, people cannot survive. The more kind people there are in a society, the better it lives.
  • When people think only about today, without thinking about the future, about how their actions, words, deeds, decisions will affect tomorrow, it is not surprising that their lives are unsuccessful.
  • Any action has consequences, and if people have once done something bad to someone, caused pain, or shown indifference, it is not surprising that sooner or later this comes back to them. Therefore, it is so important to remember not only your rights, but also the rights of others, which begin where yours end.
  • If quarrels often arise, during which no one spares each other, does not try to clarify the misunderstandings that have arisen calmly, learn to resolve conflicts in advance, clarifying all the issues before irritation and discontent accumulate, the result is natural: families fall apart or life turns into hell. People do not suddenly break down, do not suddenly stop loving, do not turn into enemies unexpectedly, all this is preceded by the past. If two people are connected by more good than bad, if mistakes are admitted, and there is no abyss of insults, insults and humiliation between them, they will not lose their love, but will remain together, because together they are better than alone.
  • Many people live poorly because they could not cope with external reasons, too many problems fell on them, no one helped them, and they were unable to withstand the blows of fate, broke down and gave up.
  • For some, the last straw was a tragedy, for others, failures on the personal front. How many women have given up on themselves, but have not given up on their subconscious desire to create a happy family and meet true love. At the same time, with their minds they try with all their might to freeze feelings and dreams and convince themselves that they will no longer be lucky, their personal life is over. And refusal to fulfill real desires and dreams always makes a person feel unhappy.

  • In order not to suffer, it is important to be in inner harmony, and not try every day to convince yourself of one thing, but inside continue to strive for the exact opposite. Therefore, if you haven’t given up on any desires, or feel that you really don’t want to live the same way anymore, think about how to make your dreams come true. Otherwise, you will continue to hold on to your familiar comfort zone, but suffer, because this is not at all what your soul asks for. This is not at all what you dream of. But everything is in your hands. You just need to start.

It is impossible to completely exclude the influence of negative factors. You won’t be able to avoid your own mistakes, no matter how hard you try. But there is always something that will help you live not badly, but well. This is faith in yourself and in your strength, no matter what happens, no matter how hard it is. They will help you get up after any fall.
