– 150 years since the signing of the treaty between Russia and the United States on the sale of Alaska in 1867

On March 30, 1867, Russian Emperor Alexander II signed an agreement in Washington for the sale of the “Russian North American colonies” to the United States. Alaska, discovered by a Russian expedition led by M. Gvozdev and I. Fedorov in 1732, was the possession of Russia in North America. Initially, it was developed by private individuals, and, starting in 1799, by a specially established monopoly. The document came into force a little less than six months later - in October it was ratified by the Russian Governing Senate. On October 18, the territories were officially transferred to the jurisdiction of the American side.

The October Revolution completely turned the history of not only Russia upside down and became, perhaps, the largest historical event of the twentieth century, as it influenced the course of all world history.
