Western Biryulyovo and Eastern Biryulyovo are separated by the Paveletskaya railway, through which there is not a single crossing. Chertanovo Central also became isolated from its neighbors. You can travel from district to district only through the Moscow Ring Road. Last year, they began to build a 5.6-kilometer-long transverse road here, which will stretch from Warsaw Highway to Lipetskaya Street.

At the first stage, in addition to the overpass on Lipetskaya Street, they plan to open new site Elevatornaya street and the underground passage at the intersection of Elevatornaya and Biryulyovskaya, next to the Tsaritsyno microdistrict. This project will significantly improve transport links in the south of Moscow. There is not a single metro station in East Biryulyovo, so residents use ground transportation and personal cars, which approximately 20 percent of them have.

According to preliminary calculations by the State Unitary Enterprise “NIiPI General Plan of the City of Moscow”, the overpass will increase the capacity of Lipetskaya-Elevatornaya by 25-30 percent. At the first stage, a new 600-meter section of Elevatornaya Street is also being built - from Lipetskaya to the intersection with Biryulyovskaya. An underground passage will be opened at this intersection, which will not only ensure the safety of pedestrians, but will also increase traffic capacity by 20 percent.

At the second stage of construction, eight kilometers of roads will be reconstructed and built, an overpass will be made across railway tracks and three pedestrian crossings. The six-lane overpass, which will connect the districts, will stretch for 787 meters.

The streets of Krasny Mayak, Podolskiye Kursanty and Elevatornaya will be widened, side passages and drive-in pockets at public transport stops will be installed along them.

All this will increase traffic capacity and improve the safety of pedestrians and motorists, and most importantly, will open the path between areas. Traffic flows will be redistributed between Varshavskoye Highway, Lipetskaya, Chertanovskaya and Baku streets.

What awaits residents

They plan to improve the area near the new roads. After completion of the work, about two thousand trees and shrubs will be planted here, and 102.5 thousand square meters lawns, which will have a beneficial effect on ecological situation in the area.
