Why there is no mood without a reason. What to do when a bad mood prevents you from living normally? How to get rid of depression on your own: traditional methods

The probability that every person on Earth has lost their mood at least once is almost 100%. Troubles at work, failures in personal life– the reasons could be completely different. As well as the ways in which they managed to get rid of the blues, “get back on track” and continue living with a smile. But still, there are a number of tips and options that are common to all cases on how to cheer up and escape from boredom, driving away this “relative” of apathy and depression.

Psychologists describe boredom as a type of negative emotion or mood. In such a state, a person is indifferent to everything that happens around him, is not interested in anything, does not want anything. He himself is well aware that this “is not good,” but he cannot do anything about it, which is why irritability appears in his character.
Causes of boredom may be not only personal problems a person when he is “lost” and cannot find the meaning of life, is not able to feel joyful emotions and he simply has no goal, but also quite vital problems familiar to many. For example, monotonous and boring job, repeating from day to day, lack of communication, when there is no friend or girlfriend nearby for a “heart-to-heart conversation,” a long wait for some event.
Even astronauts are at risk from prolonged exposure to weightlessness, which can lead to loss of sensory control. People simply stop “feeling” the world - how can you not die of boredom?

Defining boredom

Boredom won't do you any good, they say. knowledgeable specialists, and they compare it quite sadly with drug addiction - a person strives for emotions, new sensations, and having received short-term pleasure, he again becomes despondent.
This behavior can be compared to “everything and nothing” at the same time - new activities quickly become boring, poor concentration and inability to relax go “hand in hand”, flowing into chronic fatigue, nervous tension, a feeling of anxiety and a constant search for new stimuli, gives way to bouts of incredible laziness. This drains morally, “eats” a person piece by piece, he quickly becomes “saturated” with life, but remains eternally hungry.

Having heard such “alarming” bells, you should not panic - submarines swim under water for months, and sailors still"Brave boys." No one promises that it will be easy to get rid of boredom, but no one said that it will become an extremely difficult task. There is everything for this - several simple tips and the rules, the head and hands that will do everything.
First, you need to understand the reason - why boredom prevailed. This is quite difficult to do, but still ask yourself, “Why is the light so not nice?” and answer the question honestly. Basically, the most popular answer options will be love, friendship and work.
Only new ones can save you from unhappy love; only your favorite thing can replace a hateful job, albeit with less financial income, friendship can only be found. All this requires different approaches and methods, but there are certain general rules, which are required to start getting out of a psychological crisis:

  1. Don't be lazy. Human laziness can take various shapes, but when bored it is especially developed. I don’t even want to do small everyday tasks, let alone more serious things. You have to force yourself and self-control is important here. In fact, in the end, a person receives a feeling of satisfaction from any job done correctly, which adds joyful emotions.
  2. For some, a “to-do list” helps with this, where all the little things are indicated. Having made a list, a person monitors its implementation, crossing off what has already been done. It gives purpose. Of course, it is not so significant on a global scale, but still. This is already the “light at the end of the tunnel” to which you should go.

  3. Be active. You should not lie on a soft sofa, even if there is no visible business. This does not mean that you need to constantly run somewhere and do something. No. You just shouldn’t give up visiting various events, hiking, etc., in favor of a solitary, home vacation, filled with melancholy and loneliness.
    In a company, with friends or acquaintances, a chance to smile, learn something new, get to know interesting person, much higher. You don’t have to stay until the end of the event if you don’t want to, but you definitely need to “ventilate.”

Banishing boredom

When bored, a person's main enemy is doing nothing. Therefore, it is worth noting some of the most effective hobbies and activities that are used to ward off boredom.

  • Music and cinema. The simplest and most accessible. Favorite tunes or films can lift your spirits, new ones can interest you in something. Educational programs will show that in life there is always something to learn, something new to learn.
  • Internet. Global network is now available to almost everyone. On the Internet you can find all kinds of interest groups, where you will definitely find like-minded people, people with similar tastes, with whom it will be interesting to communicate. Virtual friends are also friends, they will be able to support, listen, and advise.
  • Sport. Exercising will not only be beneficial to your health, but will also require regular effort. The routine and regularity of training or games will become part of your daily schedule, leaving much less time for the blues, and sports success will add a sense of self-confidence.
  • Hobby. Hobbies help you take your mind off pressing problems. A favorite activity captivates you, allows you to forget about troubles, gives you a feeling of satisfaction and positive emotions.
  • Pet. A pet will give you a sense of responsibility, and caring for it will force you to do something even if you “don’t want to” (for example, walking the dog at 6 in the morning). In addition, the pet sincerely loves its owner, will not leave you alone, and is able to amuse and amuse with its actions.

It is worth remembering that there are many interesting, unusual, fascinating and beautiful things in life. All this can be missed, missed and not recognized if you succumb to boredom, melancholy and despondency. Therefore, they must be driven away and not allowed near you.

Bad mood brings a lot of harm to a person. It blocks the desire to do anything, pushes us to rash and bad actions. When we are in a bad mood we are more vulnerable to illness negative impact, suggestions, manipulations.

Our mood is the brain's reaction to the surrounding reality. We can completely control it. We ourselves paint certain events in positive or negative shades, although we do this unconsciously. The quality of our life is a consequence of our mood. There is a minimum program, during which you can program for yourself good mood, and then all sorts of little things will stop unsettling us.

1. In the morning, when getting ready for work, turn on your favorite music.

2. Try to sometimes take different routes to work to avoid the feeling of monotony and routine.

3. Try not to have lunch alone, go with one of your friends. After eating, spend the remaining time outdoors.

4. After work, at least a couple of times a week, arrange meetings with some of the people you are interested in and with whom you would enjoy having a cup of coffee. Just one hour of communication after work will change nothing, but you will not have a feeling of resentment towards the whole world for the fact that your life is driven into the “work-home” framework.

5. Try to watch TV as little as possible.

6. Don't sit at home on weekends. Try to go outdoors with your family and friends, go to the movies, theaters, and gyms.

7. Walk more, this will make you feel better.

8. Make yourself happy and pamper yourself whenever the opportunity arises!

If your mood is already hopelessly spoiled, you need to work to bring it back to normal, without waiting for the condition to worsen. Constant stress And negative emotions may provoke nervous breakdown.

First you need to part with the burden of sad experiences and negative beliefs.

You need to take a comfortable position and relax. When your breathing becomes deep and even, and your whole body feels relaxed, imagine home. A lot of unnecessary junk has accumulated in the attic of the house. This is yours negative experience and beliefs. You imagine how you collect all this and take it out of the house to the river, throwing it into the water. When you can clearly imagine how the river carries away old things that represent the burden of the past, tell yourself: “I have freed myself from everything that prevented me from feeling happy. Now it will always be like this."

Take a deep breath, open your eyes and smile.

Not everyone succeeds in freeing themselves from unnecessary ballast in their minds the first time. Therefore, this exercise will have to be performed several times.

You can practice an exercise in which you imagine a TV, the remote control of which is in your hands. Each imaginary channel is a shade of your mood and you decide which one to “turn on”. If you do this exercise regularly, then over time you will learn to remove unwanted moods simply by imagining the TV and the remote control.

To cheer yourself up, You need to travel more often with children, meet people, and not withdraw into yourself and your shell. Then a good mood will become a way of life. Everyone's mood changes and changes often, but you can't be led by your bad mood. The main thing to remember is that our mood largely depends on ourselves.

Don't forget to upgrade your energy level, combine with physical activity exposure to the sun, sunbathing near bodies of water in hot weather. After all, it is in the sun that “happiness hormones” are produced.

Do a good deed for someone. When a person does good unselfishly, he understands that he is doing good and he himself feels better.

Understanding why cheerfulness suddenly gave way to complete apathy is not so difficult. Our life is little like a smooth road, constantly pleasing with excellent weather. As sad as it is, there will always be someone or something that will ruin our mood.

It could be:

  • communication with an unpleasant person;
  • poor health (both associated with illness and caused by a sedentary lifestyle);
  • failures at work or in your personal life;
  • approaching birthday, especially at an older age, when the mind involuntarily tries to evaluate the year lived;
  • and much more.

In addition, most women experience bouts of ill health before and during their periods; this state also does not have the greatest effect on mood in the best possible way. What can we say about pregnancy, which simply breaks all records for attacks of melancholy and forebodings!

What to do if everything is bad

It is quite possible to fight a bad mood, although this task sometimes seems impossible precisely because it affects our main weapon in this battle - creativity and the desire to do something.

There are plenty of ways to improve your mood. Many of them are so simple that most people don't even think about them; others, on the contrary, suggest long work over yourself, self-improvement and correction of your own bad habits.

However, there are several simple rules which are best to adhere to in the fight against apathy:

  1. No need to use medications. Tablets are a last resort, which should be used only in exceptional cases. And they can only be taken as prescribed by a doctor, after consultation at a neuropsychiatric clinic. Otherwise, there is a risk of harming your health; while medications still do not provide a guarantee that your bad mood will leave you.
  2. A glass of expensive wine is a good relaxant; This is right for those cases when you need to relax and get into a great mood. However, you shouldn’t fight depression with alcohol: eat enough big risk become dependent on the “green serpent”.
  3. Don't give up. Activity is yours main ally. As soon as you sit on the sofa and begin to feel sorry for yourself, you can consider that you have lost another round. Do at least something, don’t give yourself time for reflection and dull thoughts.

Our psychological state closely related to the physical. Whatever they are real reasons apathy, it is caused by a decrease in the level of " happiness hormones- serotonin, dopamine and endorphins. You can increase their content in different ways.

Delicious food

Many foods contain substances that improve our mood and help us feel energized. First of all this:

  • chocolate;
  • coffee;
  • seaweed;
  • hot and hot peppers;
  • nuts;
  • meat and fish;
  • citrus fruits, especially oranges and tangerines;
  • and, oddly enough, celery. Of course, coffee with celery does not taste as good as chocolate; but celery soup has simply miraculous properties.

However, you can just eat something tasty. Why not please your taste buds? This will have the most favorable effect on your well-being.

Activity

Forget about lying on the couch and feeling sorry for yourself! Move. Make your body work, charge it with vigor. It doesn’t matter which method you choose: sports, outdoor games, swimming, dancing. All this helps fight apathy and fills the body with energy. Don’t be afraid to get a little tired - a pleasant tension in the muscles will cause psychological relief, and you will quickly feel how the bad mood goes away.

Walking is especially useful in such cases. They not only saturate the blood with oxygen; They also drive away dull thoughts and allow you to feel the pleasure of life.

But there are a few rules:

  • You need to go quickly. Leave the leisurely pace for a romantic walk. Go with maximum speed, which your health allows you, but under no circumstances break into a run. As soon as you feel tired, stop and rest a little, and then start moving again.
  • Don't think about anything bad. A difficult requirement, yes. But extremely important. Music and headphones help a lot in such cases.
  • Don't put yourself specific purpose. Go where your eyes lead. Or, if you find it difficult to force yourself to “waste time pointlessly,” assign as end point remote address. During the day, it could be a store or salon on the other side of town; and at night you can simply set yourself the task of walking around the entire area in a circle!

An interesting fact speaks in favor of traveling on foot: a few kilometers walked at a brisk pace before menstruation almost completely eliminates discomfort in the lower abdomen. And, of course, such activity helps to get rid of extra pounds.

In addition, all types of activities that provoke the release of adrenaline into the blood help fight depression. Buy a ticket for a roller coaster, go skydiving, or just go for a bike ride. Better yet, learn a new one active view relaxation that will recharge you with vigor.

Forward to change!

It’s hard to believe, but psychologists name the main reason for bad mood... the monotony of life. Vivid impressions make us feel excitement, and it generously saturates the blood " hormones of joy" That is why, in order to cheer up, sometimes it is enough to introduce a little novelty into your existence.

This could be a trip to the hairdresser or spa, cosmetic repairs, a new manicure and, of course, shopping. Statistics show that going to the store, even if you don't intend to buy anything big, banishes apathy and helps you look at the world from a more positive perspective. But be careful: any item purchased in this condition may later remind you of a bad period in your life. Therefore, be prepared, if something happens, to mercilessly throw all the trash you bought during the depression into the garbage chute!

However, this advice applies not only to things. Train yourself to part with what has already become obsolete and has no real value for you:

  • phone numbers you don't call;
  • relationships that burden you;
  • notebooks, names and birthdays in which you don’t even remember;
  • jokes you're tired of laughing at;
  • activities that are no longer enjoyable.

All this binds us to the past and prevents us from enjoying life.

Laugh

It’s a paradox – but a bad mood is afraid of laughter. The muscles of our face “remember” emotions, and, forming a smile, send a command to the brain about fun. Of course, joy will not appear immediately. But this only means that we need to launch a massive attack on depression.

Have a little celebration for yourself. You don't have to wait for a round date. You can always find a reason for a party: it could be the anniversary of a first date, the victory of your husband’s favorite team in the championship, or even the birthday of a pet. Invite your friends, turn on the music, and soon you will feel like you're really having fun.

How to prevent depression

There are situations when conventional methods powerless to lift your spirits. In these cases, psychologists talk about depression - a long-term state of depression, apathy, and lack of self-confidence.

It is possible and necessary to fight this scourge. In the most severe cases, of course, you cannot do without the help of a specialist. But usually, it’s quite possible to cope with on our own. The main thing is to constantly remember that poor health and failures will not haunt us constantly.

Life goes on, even if it is difficult for us to believe that it is beautiful:

  • Find yourself a hobby that will, at least from time to time, occupy all your attention without reserve.
  • Don't be afraid to show your individuality. We are all geniuses in one activity or another, but we often lock away our “Picasso” or “Mozart” for fear of being misunderstood. Why should you adapt to the opinions of strangers? Start doing something that you are good at, even if your hobby is strange to others. Origami, playing the trumpet, beading or composing haiku can all help you feel like you belong. And this is the first step towards recovery.
  • Give yourself a chance to vent bad emotions. Write down all your grievances, failures and disappointments on a large piece of paper, or even better, express it all in front of the mirror. Feel free to complain about fate from time to time!
  • Don't get too caught up in yourself. Find someone who needs your help. If charity and volunteering are not your thing, get a cat, aquarium fish or houseplant. Caring for others will help you break out of a vicious circle.

Every person is susceptible to mood swings. Some less often, some more often. Everyone is familiar with the situation when everything around is annoying, nothing makes you happy, the sun seems too bright, children are noisy, friends are intrusive, work is like hard labor. But this does not mean that the person himself is bad. It's just a bad mood.

But even if they say that someone ruined the mood, this is far from true. The reason lies within the person himself. He himself is responsible for what happens in his life. People love to plunge into a depressing state and find those who can sympathize and take pity. This alone is not good enough. They may sympathize, feel sorry for you, or help you with advice, but it will be of no use. Often a person simply justifies his laziness, inertia, and lack of desire for something.

Bad mood. What to do in this case?

The very first thing to do is to identify it in its infancy. It is when trouble happens - this is the first grain that falls on fertile soil depression. In this case, it is very important how exactly to look at this situation how to evaluate it. Only the person himself can decide how to look at the problem and how to treat it. If you throw out negativity in response to trouble, it will fall on fertile ground, but if you try to take it calmly and laugh at the situation or even at your own mistake, then the grain will not grow.

Good and bad mood. Let's listen to ourselves

First of all, you need to look inside yourself and understand what can cause a threat to your mood. Listen to your feelings and sensations, to your soul. Only the person himself will be able to understand what is wrong there and find discomfort or doubts within himself that can change his mood in the future. And in this case, you need to choose what you prefer - despondency or joy.

Sensitivity and observation skills are not for everyone innate quality. Those who do not have them need to develop them with the help of special exercises and techniques. There are many personal trainings which are carried out by specialists in order to teach people to understand themselves and their feelings.

Reasons

Often human body warns in advance that not everything is in order. A person wakes up in the morning and already feels that something is wrong. Why the bad mood? In this case, you need to try to remember what happened before going to bed. Psychologists and nutritionists agree that a hearty dinner before bed is harmful, and often after this a person wakes up irritable in the morning. In this case, food should be taken simply two hours before bedtime.

The mood, oddly enough, also depends on the ventilation of the room. If you sleep in a stuffy room, the body does not have enough oxygen, and it cannot recover. Accordingly, the person does not get proper rest and wakes up again in a bad mood. Changing things in the bud is as simple as opening the window at night.

Stress

Another reason why a bad mood occurs is stress, which can be caused by many factors. For example, if you live in the same apartment with people who are unpleasant to you. Then you just need to move to another place. If stress causes fatigue from work, try to distribute it differently working hours. Perhaps it is being used irrationally, and as a result, you don’t have time and worry. Or you should just change your job for a quieter one.

Caffeine

This substance causes stressful state body, and its overdose the next day can cause irritation right in the morning. The way to combat it is, again, simple - limit your daily intake of caffeine. By the way, it is found not only in coffee, but also in black tea, but in green tea - most of all.

Movement

If there is little movement, then you need to reconsider your day and diversify it with sports. Due to poor mobility, your body's cells do not receive required quantity oxygen, and a bad mood is his cry for help.

Disease

If everything that is listed has been corrected, but the mood is still bad, then in this case the cause may be bile or kidneys. If the kidneys are not functioning well, the urine in the body stagnates and poisoning occurs. In this case, you need to take a diuretic and drink more water. If there is stagnation of bile, it is necessary to check the gallbladder and take choleretic drugs.

Depression

A bad mood not only creates discomfort, it is dangerous, as it can lead to long-term depression. And it, in turn, negatively affects not only human life, but also on relationships with colleagues and loved ones. In addition, the negativity also extends to a person’s performance.

But depression and bad mood are different concepts. Depression has three components: fatigue, autonomic disorders and a mood disorder, which is precisely caused by a bad mood, the duration of which is more than two weeks. In a depressed state, a person often cannot notice his mood, since this period is accompanied by melancholy, despair, anxiety, and indifference.

How to get rid

Are you in a bad mood? What to do in this case? Reconsider your thoughts. You just need to follow them, analyze what is happening, whether there is any bias towards the situation or person. It is advisable to perform this procedure initially, as soon as your mood begins to deteriorate. After such an “inventory” of thoughts, many people feel much better.

Action and inaction

Oddly enough, these two things will help you get rid of this condition, even if you are in a very bad mood. The first option is to sit back, the second is to work.

The first category includes “workaholics” who give their all at work, take overtime and even work seven days a week. They can simply allow themselves to lie on the sofa, watch a movie, sleep, in general, do whatever they want, but not chores and work. At the same time, you need to set yourself a condition: there should be no feelings of guilt! Very often, work sucks out of a person a lot of the energy he himself needs, so the body simply needs recuperation. You just have to allow yourself to put everything aside at least for a while and do only what you want directly.

The second category, on the contrary, is lazy people. To treat their bad mood is intended directly opposite action. These people simply need to do something, overcoming their laziness. This does not mean that it is necessary to work hard. You can find something you like to do. And if you find something you love, then negative thoughts they simply go away because the person is focused on the positive. After some time, the bad mood will simply disappear and evaporate.

Intellectual activity

Another effective way lift even a very bad mood - intellectual activity. And besides this, it is very useful for self-development. You can solve crosswords, scanwords, play backgammon or checkers, go through a lot of psychological tests. And even better - come up with something of your own, what exactly you want to do now.

Fun

The mood can be corrected almost instantly by being in a place where fun reigns. Attractions help a lot with this - practically the most effective medicine. There are always people there, smiles and laughter, and even against one’s will, the positive energy with which this place is filled is transmitted to a person. It can be said briefly that desperate times require the same measures.

Music

If you are constantly in a bad mood, then you don’t want to go anywhere from home. Then the most the best remedy- this is music. It must be cheerful, rhythmic, and fiery. In this case, she herself will make you dance, and thoughts will gradually be distracted from problems, and the mood will turn into a good one. Here, at home, we can also recommend comedies, which are great for lifting a bad mood. If it doesn't work after one movie, you can turn on a second one.

Communication and sex

Communication is also an important point for treating a bad mood. Loneliness will never help you get rid of it, but conversations and contacts will. But no communication can replace sex, which acts on a person, instantly correcting a depressed state. Besides everything, this is one of the most nice ways improve your mood. During sex, the body is fully activated, and you receive not only pleasure, but also benefits.

Loneliness is another reason why you are always in a bad mood. In order to fix this, go on a visit, or even better, to a party or club. You can have a party at home. Then you will be busy preparing and completely forget about your bad mood.

Period

When a woman is expecting her period soon, she often experiences a bad mood. The fair sex acutely and often painfully feels the approach of menstruation, reacting to this with bouts of irritation and some aggression.

The fact is that the hormone progesterone is to blame. During this period, a lack of it is observed in the female body, as a result of which the blood sugar level decreases and the production of adrenaline increases, which is released during severe fear or nervous tension.

But many experts believe that not only the hormone is to blame for a woman’s bad mood during this period. The instability of the emotional state largely depends on the woman herself, her subjectivity. She may feel fine if her period starts on time or if she doesn't have a hard time with it. But a violation of the cycle can cause irritation. In addition, if menstruation is difficult to bear, then the woman, feeling their approach, already begins to get nervous, she is overwhelmed by fear of the pain that, as she already knows, she will experience.

How to fight

First of all, you need to pay attention to nutrition and exclude from the diet at this time those foods that have a stimulating effect. For example, caffeine, black tea, chocolate and Coca-Cola. Try to consume as little salt as possible, as it retains water in the body. You will also have to exclude sweets - they increase the discomfort.

You should completely abstain from alcohol. But B vitamins, on the contrary, help alleviate the condition. They are found in fresh greens, bananas, nuts, liver, cereals and legumes. Relieves irritability headache and swelling. Zucchini, spinach and nuts relieve tension, and clean water prevents the appearance of edema.

And the most important thing is rest. You need to be able to relax, and in this state it is better to postpone things for other days.

“Tick-tock,” the clock on the wall is ticking, the heart is beating rhythmically, inhalation is replaced by exhalation; less noticeable, but also work cyclically internal organs, other processes occur in the body. Day turns into night, seasons alternate, and so on. Our whole life is riddled with periods of ups and downs. But if, for example, it is not so difficult to change the heart rate in a small range, then things are much more difficult in psychological sphere. But it also has periodic processes, and they most directly affect our state, well-being, and actions.

Mood instability has not been a revelation for a long time. In sanguine people, the phases of emotional rise and fall are especially pronounced. Here’s what psychotherapist Mark Burno, an expert on people’s characters, says about them: “A changed (often without external shocks) mood sometimes dramatically transforms a sanguine person. Subtle soul, a gentle, selfless woman in caring for her sick husband, a friend, in a bad mood, for example, in violent unjustified jealousy, becomes vulgar and bazaar, completely different from her former self. The natural, warm responsiveness and kindness of sanguine people often frightens inexperienced beginners: carefully cared for, caressed at the first meeting, they can get the next day, when the sanguine person’s mood has swung downward, which is called “face on the table.” To live and work with such a person means to seriously depend on his mood.”

It is useful to know about such extremes because each of us has mood swings, albeit to a lesser extent. Emotional state colors our worldview and, moreover, influences our actions. During a positive period, we are active, full of determination and readiness for new life endeavors. For example, we decide to eat right and exercise. But “the weather in my soul has changed” (without external reasons) - and good beginnings are forgotten, abandoned, we return to the old rut. Well, let's just walk around vicious circle Or is it possible to somehow get out of it?

Wait out the bad weather.
“Dark” streaks can seem insurmountable, cause a feeling of helplessness and lead to the conclusion that all your good endeavors are pointless. If you know that moods tend to change, you will remind yourself of this, say to yourself: “Yes, now the pendulum of my mood has swung towards despondency and melancholy, but I know that my mood will definitely change, it’s how it works,” then it will be much easier for you to withstand it difficult time , you will wait it out calmly and will not take actions that you would later regret.

However, many cannot withstand this period without certain breakdowns or setbacks. Why is this happening? First of all, because people, being in negative state, make the usual demands on themselves. A person tries to overpower himself in order to meet his self-image or the expectations of others. But nothing good comes of this. The tactics must be different. When you are in a bad mood, you need to give yourself a time out; not to fight, but to calmly accept yourself as you are, while firmly knowing that your condition will return to its previous normal. Excessive efforts are contraindicated; do what you can. Give yourself time to recover. This attitude will allow you to get out of the negative phase the fastest and without losses. Speed up return to normal form Walking in doses will help physical activity, proper nutrition.

How to manage yourself.
Of course, the question arises: is it possible to control your mood and become more independent of it? Psychologist and writer Vladimir Levi says that “the mood cannot be defeated and cannot be deceived; but he can be persuaded to change.” How?

Start by eliminate those circumstances that bring down your mood. First of all we're talking about about the habit of making your mood dependent on the opinions of other people. This habit comes from childhood, when the assessment and attitude of parents, educators, and teachers were of enormous importance for the child. In childhood it is formed estimated dependence, and an adult should, if not completely get rid of it, then reduce it as much as possible. And when this happens, the mood itself becomes more even and calm.

In addition to other people, life circumstances also influence our mood: successes and failures, victories and defeats, favorable circumstances and unexpected difficulties. And you need to learn to protect and distance your condition from their influence. It's not that simple, of course. But it's quite possible.

As psychologists Albert Ellis and Aaron Beck found, Our state and mood are influenced not by the event itself, but by our opinion about it, what we think about it. Here's a simple example. A man is walking through the forest, suddenly he sees a bear ahead. How does the person feel? Horror. Then I looked closer - and it was not a bear, but a snag that looked like a bear. How does the person feel? Relief. Has anything changed in the world around you? Nothing. What has changed? Human thoughts. This is how we live, sometimes mistaking various snags for bears and reacting accordingly.

When something happens in life, you need to identify your automatic thoughts about the event. This stream flies through the head very quickly; as a rule, they are not realized. But we see the result - grief, anxiety, anxiety, disappointment. Each such experience was preceded by certain thoughts and assessments. These are the ones that need to be caught and subjected to critical examination. Is what happened really that scary? Is it that bad? Is this really irreparable? Imagine what another person thinks - it’s easier to be critical of them, based on common sense. This kind of work will make your mood more independent of external circumstances and events.

The third way to influence your mood combines many methods of self-regulation. This communicating with nature, listening to beautiful music, reading interesting books. Of course, humor and meditative practices.

I would also like to say something about creativity: psychotherapist Mark Burno developed special system treatment of various severe states of mind. Its essence is that, doing creative work By doing something in his own way, a person experiences inspiration, inspiration, thereby helping himself to feel better.

Expert opinion
Tatyana Shvaitser, leading specialist in the field of micropsychoanalysis, full member of the European Association of Psychotherapists
"Cure" for a bad mood
The article, in my opinion, is only a short “virtual guide” and does not reveal the necessary (practical) options for friendship and the ability to get along with your mood. When giving recommendations to a person regarding the regulation of his mood (the word “mood” very precisely defines its own meaning - to tune in), it is necessary to understand and take into account the life-situational context. It is difficult for a person in a state of mood imbalance to understand, accept and apply what the author recommends, since these actions also require a mood. An independent analysis of “why and why there was such a mood and what is needed so that it does not recur” can lead a person even more into a dead end and, accordingly, leave a feeling of misunderstanding of oneself. The fact is that the mood is peculiar defense mechanism person and you don’t always need to consider a “bad” mood as negative. “Bad mood” is often a corrector, a coordinator, and simply saves a person from destruction. In other words, it is the “destroyer of destruction” of man. There is no single “cure” to correct your mood. You need to learn how to build a friendship with him, or rather set it up.
